Town schedules flu clinic

The town is experiencing cases of flu “consistent with other areas of the country, though not to the extreme extent of some areas,” said Kathy Downey, the town’s public-health nurse. To avoid the illness, she advises free flu shots at a clinic Monday at the Marion Town House, 2 Spring St., from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2 p.m. The clinic is not restricted to Marion residents, and is available for all ages. Downey said “those who get vaccinated can avoid getting the flu, or if they do get it, the intensity and duration are tremendously minimized.” Though the shots are free, as are pneumonia shots being offered, insurance cards should be presented for billing purposes. Those without insurance can still get the free shots, she said. For information, call 508-748-3530.
