Search for police chief underway

Candidates interested in becoming Halifax’s next police chief  have until Feb. 8 to get their resumes in. According to Town Administrator Charles Seelig, selectmen will likely review the submissions a few days afterward and conduct interviews in late February. The job is open to officers within the Police Department as well as those outside. Michael Manoogian, who has been police chief since 1990, plans to retire on June 30. While salary for the new chief will be based on experience, Manoogian will be paid $97,900 for the current fiscal year.
