Roof restoration at library

The roof restoration of the Children’s Wing at the Ames Free Library has begun and is expected to be completed in May. Work on the 82-year-old clay tile roof will be led by construction supervisor and architect James Thomas of North Easton, along with contractors Crocker Architectural Sheet Metal Co. of North Oxford and Aniceto Masonry Restoration of Milton. The property, listed in the State Register of Historic Places, received restoration funding from the Massachusetts Historical Commission, Easton’s Community Preservation Fund, and individual donations. Other funding came from the library’s Fanny Holt Ames Bequest. For more information, contact library executive director Uma Hiremath at 508-238-2000, opt. 7.
