Town officials to discuss gaming regulations

Town officials and representatives of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission will meet at the Feb. 26 selectmen’s meeting to discuss gaming regulations and how the town might be affected if the state’s only slots license is given to Plainville’s Plainridge Racecourse. Selectmen want to air concerns, get more information, and then appoint a committee to look at the concerns, the slot proposal, and a mitigation plan, officials said. Members of the Gaming Commission are also seeking public input on draft regulations that define the term “surrounding communities,” as Foxborough hopes to be designated. More information on that effort is available at www.mass.gov/gaming/contact-us/seeking-public-comment-draft-surrounding-comm-regs.html. Deadline for comments is Wednesday.
