    Selectmen grant four-way stop

Responding to requests from neighbors who said the corner was dangerous for pedestrians, the Sharon Board of Selectmen on Jan. 29 approved a four-way stop at the intersection of Bradford Avenue and Dunbar Street. While he didn’t oppose the plan, Eric Hooper, superintendent of public works, noted that from a purely engineering point of view, the intersection does not meet common traffic-control standards for a four-way stop. The standards are generic and do not account for special cases, he said. Selectman Richard Powell said he agreed with neighbors that the intersection receives heavy pedestrian use from two temples and Sharon High School, and that it has problems with visibility and a history of accidents.
