Proposed changes to Town Manager Act

The public can ask questions about proposed changes to the Town Manager Act at two forums planned by the Cohasset Governance Committee. The meetings will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday and March 7 in the community room of the Cohasset Middle High School. The committee has been studying the rules governing the town manager since last spring and has posted its draft proposal on the town website www.cohassetmass.org. The final version will go to the spring Town Meeting for a vote. The proposal includes a change rejected by the 2012 Fall Special Town Meeting to preclude only selectmen  who have been in office within 15 months from being appointed town manager. The current rules bar anyone holding an elected or appointed town position within the past year from being named town manager.
