Town and Kraft at odds

The town and its largest taxpayer, the Kraft Group, are still at odds over insurance liability for a series of concerts planned this summer at Gillette Stadium. Conditional licenses granted by selectmen last month, along with the demand for future indemnification, are about to expire, officials said. At the time, the town gave the organization 30 days to reach consensus on insurance coverage for a July 20 concert by Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift concerts on July 26 and 27, and the 10th annual New England Country Music Festival on Aug. 23 and 24 with Kenny Chesney. The issue springs from a lawsuit filed against the town last year by ticketholders who said they were wrongly detained on alcohol issues by police during a Bruce Springsteen concert and the country fest. Now, the town wants such protection included in all license requests. Selectmen plan to discuss the topic at a meeting Tuesday and could extend the license discussion period. Last week, Kraft spokesman and vice president Jeff Cournoyer said the parties continue working toward a resolution.
