New health agent set to start work in Raynham

David Flaherty will start his new job as the town’s health agent next Monday, which comes as a great relief to Town Administrator Randall Buckner,  who has been handling those duties in addition to his own for the last several weeks. Flaherty has served as Wareham’s health inspector for nearly four years, and was Yarmouth’s health inspector prior to that. He also spent some time as an environmental engineer for a private firm. Buckner said about 20 candidates applied for the job. The field was narrowed to two finalists: Flaherty and Lakeville Health Agent Lawrence Perry, who were recently interviewed by selectmen. According to Buckner, one of Flaherty’s first duties will be to review a permit application for a body art business, which has been pending.
