Man charged in bank robbery

A 35-year-old Carver man was arrested Tuesday night and charged with robbing the Eastern Bank on Wareham’s Main Street that morning, Wareham police said. According to surveillance videos, a bearded man wearing a dark hat, jacket, and sporty sunglasses waited at the teller’s booth around 9:30 a.m. Police said the suspect gave the teller a note saying said he had a weapon and that the teller should hand over money, but he never showed a weapon and left with an undetermined amount of cash. At about 8 p.m., Nicholas Liadis was arrested outside a pizza shop in Duxbury. The clothing worn during the robbery and the stolen money were recovered, and Liadas was charged with armed robbery, said Warham Police Lieutenant Kevin Walsh.
