Habitat home gets approval

The Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity has received approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals to build a home at 185 Wareham St., with groundbreaking by early May, said George McTurk, a Habitat representative. The 20,000-square-foot parcel was owned by the town and donated to Habitat, he said, and contained a dilapidated house that was torn down to make way for the Habitat home, which could be constructed by fall. The property will also have a small parking lot for access to an easement so the public can access the town-owned Washburn Park. Several businesses have donated their services to the project, McTurk said, including Saltonstall Architects in Marion, which donated architectural work.
