Peacemaker and violence symposium

Hingham Congregational Church is inviting the public to participate in a discussion on community violence this Sunday and next Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. Occurring in light of the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., the symposium will bring together community and religious leaders to provide insight into why violence happens, and what people can do to stop it. “There is no single action we can take that will end violence completely,” said the Rev. Peter Allen, who is hosting the talk. “And yet, as a person whose vocation is to lead and nurture a community of faith here on the South Shore, I also believe that there is potential for positive change and greater peace.” For additional information, visit www.hccucc.com.
