Scituate’s planned solar array on the capped landfill will be delayed yet again, but this time the town will receive financial compensation for the trouble. The project, which calls for solar panels next to the Widow’s Walk Golf Course, began in December 2010, when selectmen voted for Brightfields Development LLC to install the project. Work was initially expected to be finished by February 2013, but after financing delays, the deadline was extended to June. The developer now is asking for an extension until December 2013. Scituate officials are expected to sign extension documents on Tuesday, but as reparation, the town will receive $300 for every day past June 15. The company has put up a year’s worth of these payments in advance as a demonstration of its commitment. “We’re confident in the project right now,” said Al Bangert, director of the Department of Public Works.
