Narrow loss in mock trial finals

The Marshfield High School mock trial team went to the state’s Final 4 for the fourth year in a row Monday, but fell in a one-point loss to The Winsor School, a private girls’ school in Boston. “I was thrilled with how our mock trial students performed this year,” said Matthew McDonough, one of the team’s attorney coaches and a Marshfield selectman. “It was really a tight trial.” Last year, Marshfield reached the finals at Faneuil Hall. McDonough said he is excited for next year, because the team is losing only one senior, and the senior acted as a witness, so this year’s full slate of aspiring attorneys will return. More than 30 students take a mock trial class at the high school, and most participate in the team in some manner, either as attorneys or witnesses, in other roles, or as understudies, he said.
