Regional dispatch under consideration

Town officials are discussing the geographic composition of a regional 911 dispatch service, according to a preliminary report on the issue. A recent feasibility study funded by a state grant addressed ways to create a regional communication center or public-safety answering point for fire and police. The center would serve Plympton, Bridgewater, Duxbury, East Bridgewater, Halifax, Kingston, Plymouth, and Whitman. Regional dispatch is viewed as cost saving by town leaders, but many communities are still discussing how to make the configuration work.
