Residents honored for volunteerism

Five Westwood residents have been honored with awards from The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, a 10-year-old program that recognizes Americans who inspire others to engage in volunteer service. Westwood selectmen recently congratulated John Masterson, who has donated 9,434 hours of his time at the New England Aquarium since 1974. Four students who volunteer as town Police Explorers also received presidential honors and local accolades: Bryan Sicard, a Westwood High School senior; Jack Eaton, a Westwood High sophomore; and Dante Federico and Connor O’Rourke, two eighth-graders at Thurston Middle School.
