Randolph was one of eight Massachusetts locales designated “Best Communities for Music Education” by the NAMM Foundation in March. The recognition affirms the school district’s commitment to retaining musical instruction as part of its core curriculum based on funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, facilities, and community support of the program. The timing of the honor is intended to focus “attention on the importance of keeping music education part of the school’s core education” as most districts are finalizing their budget for the next school year, according to a NAMM Foundation statement. The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit that promotes participation in music-making by people of all ages through research and grants.
