Interim district superintendent appointed

Kristine Nash, who retired last year as Hanover’s superintendent of schools, was named interim superintendent for the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District for the 2013-14 school year. She will replace Jessica Huizenga, who will leave the interim post at end of this school year to join the Cambridge school system. Nash has worked in education for 45 years, including stints in East Bridgewater and Marshfield. The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee also approved Huizenga’s recommendation to appoint Christine Smith as the district’s director of student services. Smith is currently special education coordinator for Norwood schools.
