Planning board offered shot at remote conferences

The Planning Board held an informational meeting last week with Steve Dewhurst of Semantics Consulting Inc., a Carver technology company that wants to give the town two projectors and two large monitors. The equipment could be used by the Planning Board to hold remote conferences with engineers, attorneys, and other parties. If the donation is accepted by selectmen, a projector and monitor would be installed in both of Town Hall’s meeting rooms. Holding Skype conferences could save the board time and money, Town Planner Jack Hunter said. “We won’t have to pay lawyers and engineers for travel time,” he said. Selectmen have said the town needs to create a policy on remote conferencing before accepting the gift.
