Boating basics course starts Tuesday

Youths ages 12 through 15 need to complete a “Boating Basics” course before they can operate a motorboat by themselves, according to the Massachusetts Environmental Police. The police, along with the Hull Harbormaster and the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club, are offering the course for free, starting on Tuesday. The five-week course will be held at the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club, at 3 Fitzpatrick Way, on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Advance registration is required by calling 508-564-4961 or going to and clicking on “Boat and Recreation Vehicle Safety Bureau.”
