Hospital donates to Rockland school in honor of Newtown

The Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital this month donated school supplies to the classrooms at Jefferson Elementary School in Rockland and Center/Sylvester Elementary School in Hanover to honor of the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Jefferson’s principal, Christine Pruitt, said the hospital had asked Newtown if it could donate anything to help Sandy Hook. Hospital officials were told that because Newtown had already received so many donations, they should donate to a local elementary school in Sandy Hook’s honor instead. Braintree Rehab chose two schools that were associated with hospital staff. Jefferson received playground supplies and academic materials to help the 160 kindergarten students there. “The teachers were absolutely thrilled,” Pruitt said. “We are just so grateful that they chose us.”
