Special Town Meeting on April 6 approved a motion to use Community Preservation Act funds to acquire the property at 366 Court St., according to the town clerk’s office. The North Plymouth real estate, owned by former selectman Richard “Dick” J. Quintal Jr., includes a five-bedroom house and Quintal Brothers Fruit Market on South Spooner Street. Plymouth’s Community Preservation Committee proposed buying the property from Quintal for $400,000 and turning it over to the Plymouth Task Force for the Homeless for use as affordable housing (for up to five tenants, with a preference for women), according to Bill Keohan, the committee’s chairman. “It’s important to note that this is not a homeless shelter,” said Keohan, who said tenants will have to qualify and sign contracts to live there, and there will be a manager on the site around the clock. Keohan said he expects the sale of the property to occur in spring or summer.
