Two contested races

Two contested races top the ballot in Saturday’s annual town election. Paula Nute, the assistant tax collector for the past nine years, is challenging her boss, treasurer-tax collector John Franey, for the three-year position. Two-term incumbent Selectman Richard Ward faces a challenge from Paul Johnson, a member of the North Carver Water District Commission. The vote takes place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Carver High School gymnasium. Absentee ballots are available through Friday. For more information, call the town clerk’s office at 508-866-3403.
