A meeting to review articles for next month’s Town Meeting is scheduled for April 29 at 8 p.m. in the Sharon High School library, Town Administrator Benjamin Puritz said. Articles on the warrant include a local meal tax of 0.75 percent and an increase in the local room tax to 6 percent from 4 percent. According to the warrant, the town’s finance director estimates the meals tax will raise $107,000 a year, and the room-tax increase $57,000. The warrant also includes temporary moratoriums on medical marijuana dispensaries and adult entertainment facilities, and a property-tax work-off option worth up to $1,000 for veterans, similar to what is available for the elderly. The Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee voted to approve these five articles for the May 6 Town Meeting.
