Aquarion offers rain barrels

Aquarion Water Co. is offering discounted rain barrels to Hingham, Hull, and Cohasset residents as part of a companywide conservation initiative. The 60-gallon barrels, being sold for $69 each through the Great American Rain Barrel Co., collect water from roofs for reuse, reducing reliance on more costly water filtered at treatment plants. In addition to conserving water in the summer months, the barrels also reduce water pollution. “[We] encourage residents to use the barrel to help towns mitigate pollution in the water supplies by limiting storm water runoff,” said Ronit Goldstein, manager of community relations. More information is available at www.greatamericanrainbarrel.com, or by calling 800-251-2352. The deadline for ordering is Friday at 5 p.m.
