Doing something about the weather


The National Weather Service will be at the Walpole Public Library on Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m. to give a free program on severe weather. The SKYWARN program will cover how to identify the signs of approaching storms and how to respond safely to them, according to Roger Turner, Walpole’s director of emergency management. “We’ve been doing this for a very long time in Walpole because we fully believe that the best defense the individual has is awareness and knowing what to do in a situation.” The program also tells participants how to report weather-related information to the National Weather Service, Turner said.
