    Voters to decide on consolidated municipal department

    Voters to the annual Town Meeting on May 7 will take up a host of measures, including one to create a consolidated department of municipal finance. The department, which would be led by a director, is intended to better coordinate and centralize the functions of the accountant, treasurer, tax collector, assessing, and information systems. “We need to have one person overseeing all those operations,” said Town Manager William R. Ross, adding that Foxborough and other towns follow this model. Ross said that if the measure is approved, the town accountant, John Stanbrook, would probably add the role of director to his job for an additional stipend.
