Revamping Merchants Way

The town’s Community and Economic Development Authority wants to breathe new life into Wareham Village by creating a waterfront district and making improvements to Me

rchants Way. The authority will hold a meeting for business and property owners on May 13 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and another meeting for the general public on May 18 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Both meetings will take place in the the Town Hall auditorium and will look for suggestions about such things as parking, lighting, crosswalks, bike racks, and benches, and will consider other options that can make the area more attractive and pedestrian-friendly. “What we’re trying to do is gather public input so we can put together concept drawings,” said Salvador Pina, director of the authority. “Essentially, we’re designing the area.” For more information about the upcoming meetings, contact Jacqui Hickey at the CEDA office at 508-291-3100, ext. 3172, or e-mail her at
