Rockland

Town Meeting Monday

Rockland’s Special/Annual Town Meeting is set for Monday at 7 p.m. at the Rockland High School auditorium. Items on the warrant include questions on raising the town meals tax by .75 percent and rooms tax by 2 percent, lowering the quorum for Town Meeting, and purchasing new technology for some schools. If an April 30 ballot question to raise the annual budget for the Rockland Memorial Library passes, it will also need to be approved at Town Meeting before it takes effect. Town Administrator Allan Chiocca said because of numerous snowstorms last winter, the town would like to allot approximately $500,000 to pay the deficit in the snow and ice cleanup account. Town Meeting will also decide whether to place a temporary moratorium on marijuana dispensaries. Residents can pick up a copy of the Town Meeting warrant at Town Hall.
