Water abatement process online


Town residents wanting to file for an abatement on their water bills can now do it online, which Town Administrator Paul Dawson said “greatly streamlines the process.” The old way was to send a written letter to selectmen, letters that often had vital information missing. The online version has straightforward instructions on how to apply for an abatement and the precise information needed, Dawson said. Abatement requests must be made within 30 days of receiving a water bill, which selectmen will act upon as quickly as possible, he said. “We thought it was probably a good idea to create a simple form where one really didn’t exist before,” Dawson said.
