Police are investigating the theft of 10,000 pounds in weights taken from Alliance Scale Inc. in
Canton. There were eight 1,000-pound and four 500-pound weights taken from the business between April 29 and May 2, when staffers reported the theft to police. “We don’t even like to move them; I can’t believe somebody took them,” said Raymond Secour, one of Alliance’s owners, who added they were probably removed by truck. The weights are made of cast iron and were stored outside. The larger weights are two feet high and 15 inches square at the base, and the smaller weights are 16 inches high and 12 inches square. Valued at $27,200, the weights were used to calibrate the business’s industrial scales.
