Volunteering opportunity at library

Students can volunteer at Westwood Public Library through a Junior Friends of the Library group designed for teens. Members, who must be in at least the eighth grade to volunteer, will lend a hand with Children’s Department programs, as well as special events organized by the Friends of the Library. Opportunities include the group’s Westwood Day booth, book sales, story hours, and craft preparation. The new group will meet at the High Street library on Wednesdays that are half-days at school beginning this fall, said children’s librarian Lizzie McGovern. “We are excited about this new endeavor,’’ she said. “It will allow teen book lovers and readers to become more involved.” Anyone interested should send an e-mail to and check the library Facebook page at for details.
