Town moves on space issues

The town is one step closer to moving forward with plans to address the Police Department’s space limitations. An ad hoc committee appointed by selectmen issued a request for proposal a couple of months ago to assess space needs, and seven responses were received by last week’s deadline. “The committee is anxious to review’’ the responses, said town coordinator Dale Pleau. “The police are in extremely cramped quarters, and the space they’re in really doesn’t cut it anymore.” Pleau said the Fire Department’s space needs will be addressed, too, in the infrastructure needs study. The Plympton Police Department is currently housed in the community’s town hall, known as the Town House.
