Scituate

Book to raise money for historical society

Another book about Scituate’s history is hitting the bookshelves, but this time the town will benefit from more than recognition. Author Richard Wainwright has donated all present and future proceeds from the book, “The Tale of the Scituate Lightkeeper’s Daughter,” to the Scituate Historical Society. “It is a remarkable act of generosity,” society members wrote in a release. The book, Wainright’s 12th, is historical fiction, complete with photographs and illustrations. The book is available at the Historical Society webpage, http://scituatehistoricalsociety.org, and at The Little Red Schoolhouse. A two-night book reception will be held July 17 and 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Barker Tavern. Admission is $10 for dessert and coffee. For more information or to make reservations, call the historical society at 781-545-1083.
