New school ‘on schedule’

The chairman of the School Building Committee said preparations for new West Bridgewater Middle Senior High School are “on schedule and going according to plan.” Gary Keith said the committee is about to submit the 90 percent design package to the Massachusetts School Building Authority, which must approve the plans before the project goes out to bid, probably by the end of the summer, according to Keith. According to the present timeline, the committee expects to receive bids and award contracts for the project around Oct. 1, with construction expected to be completed by July 2015. Keith said the state reimbursement will be about half of the eligible costs of the $63.7 million project. Increased taxes to pay for the project will start in 2015, and will be $648 a year for the average home assessed at $288,000.
