Open associate member position

Residents have an opportunity to get involved in town government, without having to make a commitment as a full-term elected official. The Planning Board is seeking an associate member to serve on an as-needed basis for special permit issues. For these matters, at least four out of the five board members must vote, so when there are absences or a conflict-of-interest situation, voting has to be tabled until there is a “super majority” rather than the quorum needed for most other votes. “Our bylaw allows for one associate member,” said Planning Technician Lauren Moreau. “The Panning Board is looking forward to acting on this bylaw and having an associate member to help out on special permit cases when needed. It will help move the process along.”
