    40B proposal hearing continued

Concerns about storm-water runoff that could cause septic systems to fail and create flooding conditions in neighboring yards were among the issues raised by residents at last week’s Zoning Board of Appeals hearing on the Simon Hill development off Prospect Street. While a decision was expected to be made last week on the 126-unit, Chapter 40B proposal, the hearing was continued to July 24. ZBA chairwoman Lois Barbour said that many of the roughly 50 residents in attendance still had significant concerns over such issues as the height of the structures and the visual impact. The average building height will be 40 feet, plus 4 feet for the elevator shafts. “The one element everyone agrees upon?” Barbour said. “No one will be happy with the board’s decision.”
