The Massasoit Avenue fire station in Marshfield has moved to temporary quarters at 563 Ocean St. to make way for construction of a $3.5 million station on the site of the old station in the southeastern part of town. Fire Chief Kevin Robinson said he wanted to alert the public to the temporary location because residents often go the station in search of medical aid. The accommodations consist of a mobile home for the fire crew and a steel-frame structure with a canvas-like covering for fire apparatus, he said. Extreme heat and frequent rain made assembling the temporary quarters a challenge, he said, but most of the move was accomplished Sunday and Monday. The station is expected to be on Ocean Street for 10 months. Changes at the Massasoit Avenue construction site should visible by the end of August, he said.
