Three-way race in special election

There will be a three-way race for one selectman’s seat in the Sept. 28 special election. Brian E. Barthelemes, Mark Christensen, and Nancy A. Leonard are running for the seat, which became open with the resignation of Gary Young in April. The term expires in May 2015. Town Clerk Cathy Harder-Bernier noted that “just last May, there were a series of uncontested races. It’s outstanding to see the residents of Hanover rally together and produce three candidates for election to the Board of Selectmen.” The special election will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Harder-Bernier said she recommended the truncated hours to selectmen as a cost-saving measure, and the board voted unanimously last week to limit the election to four hours.
