YMCA renovation helped by donation

A $10,000 donation from the Quincy Rotary Club has moved Quincy YMCA closer to its $15 million fund-raising goal. The money will be used for the $30 million renovation of the Quincy facility, to be completed by late October. So far, the capital campaign group has raised $10.9 million. “We’re hoping in these last couple of months to raise a lot towards the goal before we get the building open, but it’s expected to go beyond the opening, and we’ll continue to fund-raise to support the project once the doors open,” said Sara Trubiano, director of marketing for the South Shore YMCA. Bruce Haas, major gift director for the campaign, said he was optimistic about future fund-raising efforts. “We have a number of people we’re talking to still in the large gift category, people interested in providing,” he said. “We have a great committed campaign.”
