An 88-year-old woman was killed in a two-car accident last Sunday, according to Carver police. The accident occurred a little after 4 p.m. at 131 Main St. in Carver Center, and involved a Chevrolet K3500 pickup truck driven by Carl Jewells, 46, of North Attleboro, and a Ford Escort driven by Marjorie M. Carter of Ward Street Extension in Carver, police said. Both drivers and a passenger in the Chevrolet, Stephanie Waite, 19, of Halifax, were transported to Jordan Hospital, where Carter was pronounced dead. Injuries to Jewells and Waite were minor. Carver police said last week they requested assistance from the State Police because of the seriousness of the accident, and that the investigation “is open and ongoing.”
