The Southcoast Visiting Nurse Association has scheduled a free health assessment for senior citizens on Sept. 19 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Rochester Council on Aging, 67 Dexter Lane. The assessment is for those 60 and older. The clinics include screenings for blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels and blood-sugar levels, and are administered by a registered nurse, who also holds one-on-one educational discussions with participants about diet, nutrition, pain anagement, and medications, said Joanne Gregory, director of community affairs for the association. “Though we say 60 and older, it’s really for anyone who wants to come. Some as young as 45 come by,” she said. And the assessment is not limited to Rochester residents, she said, adding that anyone can stop by.
