Free workshop for small businesses

The Walpole Economic Development Department is offering a free workshop called “The Best Practices in Retailing” for small businesse, to be held Tuesday from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Walpole Public Library. The program, which is underwritten by a state grant, will be led by Retail Visioning, said Stephanie Mercandetti, the town’s community and economic development director. She said businesses also can apply for one of eight free in-store consultations with Retail Visioning principal Christine Moynihan. “Chris Moynihan knows small businesses and downtowns all over the area but — a bonus for our town — she and her husband live in and frequently shop in Walpole,” Mercandetti said. For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Mercandetti at 508-660-7352 or at
