Park Day benefits boosters

The 22d annual Park Day festival at War Memorial Park will take place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering a chance for the entire community to come together and for nonprofits to show themselves to the thousands who will gather. Among the family-friendly events is the annual duck race, an important fund-raiser for the West Bridgewater Boosters Club, which hopes to raise several thousands dollars for athletic teams at West Bridgewater Middle-Senior High. Supporters buy plastic ducks, which are then set afloat at 4 p.m. on the Town River, with the first ducks across the finish line winning cash prizes for their owners. Among the items the boosters have purchased in recent years are scoreboards, a treadmill, and a timer for cross-country and track, and the organization also funds college scholarships.
