The Special Town Meeting on Oct. 7 will consider three appropriations from the town’s Community Preservation Fund. The expenditures, recommended by the Community Preservation Committee, include $95,000 to upgrade three of the fields that the Hanson Little League maintains at the Botieri Field baseball complex on Route 58. Another appropriation is for $46,620 to fund part of the cost of the town’s proposed purchase of the Harris Stone Properties, 115 acres of land on West Washington Street. A separate article at the meeting would authorize the town to buy the land. The third appropriation is for $18,500 to pay for the materials needed for an exterior renovation to the historic Bonney House on High Street. The South Shore Vocational Technical High School has agreed to have its students carry out the renovation at no cost to the town, if Hanson supplies the materials.
