Swap Shop needs volunteers

The new and improved Swap Shop at the Hingham Transfer Station needs volunteers, Hingham officials said. “It’s hard to schedule shifts with so many people who can work but only at certain times,” said Department of Public Works Supervisor Randy Sylvester. “We need a lot of volunteers to cover those times to keep it open.” The Swap Shop is typically open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Sunday when the transfer station is also open, though that depends largely on the weather and number of volunteers. The facility has been popular, especially since it was moved out of the flow of transfer station traffic and given a shed and allocated parking. For those interested in assisting, forms are available on the town’s website. The Department of Public Works hosts a training session for new volunteers every month.
