The town will celebrate its 125th anniversary with a parade down Main Street next Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. Avon, which originally was part of Stoughton and was incorporated in 1888, has been marking the anniversary all year, with activities ranging from concerts to magic shows to a field day and fireworks. The anniversary parade route will start at St. Michael’s Church and go down East Main Street, to West Spring and West Main streets toward Avon Center. Parade organizers say they expect marching bands, floats, clowns, antique cars, equestrian units, fire, police, and veterans groups, as well as helium balloon characters.
