Runup to fall Town Meeting

The Finance and Warrant Commission will hold a public hearing Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the fall annual Town Meeting warrant. The meeting will be held in the Westwood High School Little Theatre, 200 Nahatan St. The Town Charter adopted in 2012 provides for a second business session of the town’s annual Town Meeting to be held in the last three months of the calendar year if necessary, as determined by selectmen. According to a message by FinCom chairwoman Marianne LeBlanc Cummings, the hearing will “provide residents with the opportunity for public participation and input into matters facing our town.” Included on the warrant are zoning articles related to senior and open space residential development; an amendment to zoning law distinguishing between pet care facilities and commercial kennels; and five articles related to the University Station building project ranging from traffic-calming funding to layout and takings for University Avenue. The fall Town Meeting takes place on Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
