New police officers

The Police Department has a new sergeant and lieutenant. Selectmen recently voted 4-0 to accept Chief Richard Stillman’s recommendations to promote Officer Brian Becker to sergeant, and Sergeant Christopher Mackenzie to lieutenant. There were three applicants for each position. Mackenzie is Selectwoman Nancy Mackenzie’s husband, and she did not participate in the vote. Mackenzie replaces Lieutenant Joe Zanghetti, who was filling the position provisionally but did not score in the top three on a new qualifying exam for the job, according to Town Administrator Michael Boynton.
