Cookout planned for 2014

Town officials are so pleased with the turnout at the first municipal community cookout on Oct. 16 that they are already planning another event for August. This month’s cookout was the result of a resolution by the Board of Selectmen to strengthen ties with the community through direct outreach. Representatives from the Police Department, Hanover Public Schools, the Department of Public Works, and the library set up booths and answered citizens’ questions. According to Town Manager Troy Clarkson, the event surpassed all expectations and drew more than 200 residents to Town Hall. “I’ve been in this business for over 20 years now, and it was one of the more positive events I’ve attended in my career,” Clarkson said.
