Petition drive leads to Special Town Meeting

There will be a Special Town Meeting this fall, after all. Selectmen had been debating the need for the session, but residents forced the issue last week by submitting a petition with more than the required 200 signatures calling for the meeting. The agenda will be how to deal with the good news that Cohasset has about $600,000 in unanticipated revenue this fiscal year, according to Acting Town Manager Michael Milanoski. He said the bulk of the extra money is state aid. Milanoski had been urging selectmen to hold the Special Town Meeting to put the money in the town’s stabilization and trust funds. The meeting will be held Nov. 23 at 9 a.m.
